If you're planning to go to one of the many New Year's Eve parties happening in North Texas, you'll also want to plan getting a safe ride home. Even better: You can catch a lift for free.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit is partnering with Miller Lite and Andrews Distributing to offer free rides on local buses and trains to revelers on Dec. 31. Beginning at 6 p.m., you can hop on any of the DART lines and the Trinity Railway Express without a ticket.

This is the third year DART has worked with Miller and Andrews in an effort to combat drunk driving on one of the most booze-soaked holidays of the year. In 2016, alcohol was involved in more than 17,000 car crashes, according to the Texas Department of Transportation

"MillerCoors believes drunk driving is preventable," said Gene Giron, the beer company's responsibility initiatives manager, in a statement.

DART reports that more than 30,000 people took a free ride on New Year's Eve 2016.
