Radio stations in Dallas-Fort Worth have already converted to the all-holiday format for this year's festive season.
While you could stream a Pandora holiday playlist or to drop the needle onto that classic Elvis Presley Christmas LP, there's something great about turning your radio dial to a beloved station instead. Here's where you'll find cheerful tunes on your local FM dial:
KLUV 98.7 FM
For decades now, KLUV has been this area's go-to oldies station and for the past couple of years, it has become a go-to Christmas frequency once the calendar turns to November.
Until 2013, it was sister station KVIL that pioneered all-holiday programming before handing the candy cane off to KLUV. In years past, the weeks of seasonal music has been capped off in a most wintery way. For 24 hours, beginning on the evening of Christmas Eve, KLUV's continual holiday playlist is simulcast on KTXA 21 for a traditional Yule Log TV special where a televised image of a crackling fireplace is backed by the classic holiday songs for the perfect living room gathering backdrop. You know, unless you actually have a fireplace.
The Star 102.1 FM
In one of the more prominent shakeups of local radio landscape in our recent past, 102.1 the Edge recently dulled its alt-rock blade. Now called "The Star," 102.1 will be all-holiday-all-the-time until the New Year, when it will shift back to the "adult contemporary" format it has been throughout 2017.
If you prefer your holiday cheer to be uninterrupted, The Star has commercial-free hours at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
