Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with 3 cocktails sure to free you from boring

In case you totally fell asleep during history class, Sept. 16 is Mexican Independence Day. You heard right -- today, not Cinco de Mayo, is the day the Mexicans celebrate their independence from Spain. Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of a surprise victory over the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Now that we have that cleared up let's drink.

Yuzu Grita

  • 4 parts Milagro Añejo
  • 6 parts lemon juice
  • 4 parts yuzu juice
  • 6 parts mango juice
  • 6 parts elderflower syrup
  • 2 habanero peppers

In four shooter glasses, pour Milagro Añejo neat. Chop habanero peppers into small pieces. Blend with remaining ingredients. Steep for two to three hours. Strain into glasses, toast, and enjoy!

The Freshest Sangria

  • 4 parts Milagro Silver
  • 4 parts fresh lime juice
  • 4 parts grapefruit juice
  • 8 parts Grenadine
  • 3 serrano peppers

In four shooter glasses, pour Milagro Silver neat. Cut serrano peppers in half and remove veins, seeds and stem. Blend the halves with remaining ingredients and steep for two to three hours. Strain and pour into the four glasses.

Agua Verde (Margarita)

  • 1.5 parts Milagro Silver
  • .25 parts avocado
  • 3 cucumber slices
  • 1 part lime juice
  • .75 parts agave nectar
  • Garnish lime wheel
