Where to scare up free food on Halloween weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth

You've likely planned your Halloween costume carefully. And gosh, you spent some money on it, didn't you? Now it's time to score free breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert by wearing your new getup in public.

Most of the free food deals below apply to kids, but there are scary-good deals for adults, too.

Mimi's Cafe -- Arlington and Fort Worth

Mimi's Cafe offers a long-running deal on freebies this Halloween weekend. From Friday, Oct. 28 through Monday, Oct. 31, kids who order a kids meal will get free scoop of ice cream. The kids meal includes a variety of options such as macaroni and cheese, mini corn dogs, chocolate chip puppy dog griddlecakes or peanut butter and jelly crepes. During business hours Oct. 28-31 at 201 E. I-20 in Arlington and 5858 SW Loop 820 in Fort Worth

Cicis -- more than 50 locations in D-FW

Cicis is also offering a big-deal deal: Costumed children ages 10 and under get free pizza buffet from Oct. 28-31. Yes, that means Superman can stuff his face with cheese bread. Elsa can get a plate full of macaroni and cheese pizza. And then they can go play in the arcade and give mom and dad a break. Super Chix is offering free custards to guests of any age who are wearing a Halloween costume on Saturday, Oct. 29. Custard choices are chocolate, vanilla or apple pie. El Chico -- more than a dozen locations in D-FW

Kids 12 and under eat free at every El Chico Tex-Mex restaurant in Dallas-Fort Worth in Halloween. The catch? A costume. That shouldn't be hard, though. How about a sweet treat? The Dallas born 'n bred Tex-Mex restaurant El Fenix is giving away free ghost-shaped sopapillas at all El Fenix locations in Dallas-Fort Worth. IHOP -- 6 locations in D-FW

This is such a good deal, it's scary. IHOP restaurants are giving away free scary face pancakes to kids on Halloween. Unlike some of these other deals, which seem appropriate for lunch or dinnertime, IHOP's runs all day, meaning your kiddo could even go for breakfast. IHOP's scary face pancakes are a buttermilk pancake with a strawberry nose and whipped cream.
