One of the opening shots of the new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story should look familiar to fans of A New Hope, grabbing our full attention within seconds and not letting go for a full two minutes.
The trailer, teasing the December release of the first of many Star Wars spin-off films, has a bit of everything you'd want. An original trilogy atmosphere, a brief glimpse of Darth Vader, lots of action and, perhaps most importantly, our best look yet at the film's story.
We've known from the get-go that the movie centers around the group of Rebels that stole the plans for the Death Star — an act that ultimately leads to Star Wars: A New Hope and its climactic ending. But unless you've been paying close attention to cast interviews, panels and behind-the-scenes news, you've probably missed a lot of other information. For example, Jyn's (Felicity Jones) father appears to be one of the chief architects of the Death Star, which makes her inclusion on this team that much more meaningful.
Rogue One hits theaters on December 16.
