Guide Geek: Daisy Ridley from 'Star Wars' may be the next Lara Croft in 'Tomb Raider'

With great power comes great responsibility, but so far Marvel seems pretty responsible. More than a year after Sony and Marvel announced an agreement to allow Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we're reaping the first rewards. The famous webslinger has made a surprise appearance at the end of the latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War.

The appearance is incredibly brief, which may be pretty indicative of how much Spidey actually appears on-screen in the movie, but it's still very exciting. Spider-Man plays a pretty huge role in the comic version of the Civil War story, so it's good that he's making himself known in the film adaptation.

Also, that suit? Two thumbs up.

Or with:

Daisy Ridley as Lara Croft?

In other movie news, we might finally be getting a Tomb Raider reboot, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley may be front and center.

Deadline reports that the 23 year-old British actress is in talks with Warner Bros. and MGM to play Lara Croft, the adventuring archaeologist that was played by Angelina Jolie in the last series of movies. The film's producers are hoping to reboot the franchise with a younger Lara and a new origin story, which is the same approach that the video game series has taken recently. It's worked out fantastically there, so it's a good idea for the movies, too.

You know how Harrison Ford kicked a lot of butt as both Han Solo and Indiana Jones? Well, Daisy Ridley seems like she could be on the path to having just as iconic of a career.

'Fable' developer Lionhead Studios is no more

I hate to end on a bummer note, but Microsoft announced this week that it is putting a lot of game developers out of work by closing a couple of development studios: Press Play and Lionhead.

The latter of those companies has earned quite a bit of name recognition since its founding by legendary developer Peter Molyneux  in 2001. Recently, they were most well-known for the Fable series of role-playing games, and the game they had been working on since 2012, Fable Legends, has been canceled.

Sad news for the game development communities in the UK and Denmark, where these studios were based, but hopefully all the talented people there land on their feet and get back to making great games soon.
