Watch a video of 'Doom' co-creator John Carmack discussing virtual reality at UT Dallas

Dallas-based programmer John Carmack is one of the smartest people I've ever heard speak. The guy is literally a rocket scientist, and the way he can dive deep into the technical nitty gritty of video game development can make your head spin.

He's most famous for co-creating Doom (and many other games) while at Id Software, but lately he's been one of the main faces of Oculus VR, the company (recently bought by Facebook) that's at the forefront of pushing virtual reality to the masses.

Carmack spoke at the University of Texas in Dallas last month, and Oculus has now put that entire talk on their YouTube account. You can watch it below, and if you're into technology you might learn a lot, especially if you're interested in the challenges of developing VR.
