Guide Geek: 'Disney Infinity 3.0' is probably a 'Star Wars' game

Given the success of the first two games, there's no real doubt that there will be a third Disney Infinity game. It's also a safe bet, given hints dropped by Disney -- and let's be honest, common sense -- that the next milestone for the series to tackle will be Star Wars. After all, last year was Marvel's time to shine, and this year will mark the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in theaters, so it's the logical next step.

Well, it looks like a German retailer might have accidentally let that cat out of the bag a little early. A product listing and images from Disney Infinity 3.0 were discovered by  the Disney fan site DisKingdom. If you go to that news story now, however, you'll see a note saying that Disney requested that they take the story and images down, which seems pretty telling.

The official Disney Infinty Twitter account also tweeted, in a very Yoda-like fashion, "Patience, you must have." They tweeted this in German, probably as a nod to the leak coming from a German retailer, but regardless... Sounds like a wink and a nudge sort of confirmation to me. You can probably expect a Star Wars: The Clone Wars themed starter set for Disney Infinity 3.0 later this year.

So that's one game's existence being confirmed. Let's move onto another game's existence being extinguished.

Last year Konami released a short horror game experiment called P.T., which players eventually discovered was a secret teaser for a new game in the classic Silent Hill series. The game, titled Silent Hills, was going to be a partnership between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro, which had a lot of people very excited.

Well, bad news. Konami has confirmed that the game will never see the light of day. The Japanese company has been in a weird state of turmoil for awhile now, with rumors being all-but-confirmed that the aforementioned Hideo Kojima is halfway or perhaps even 90 percent of the way out the door. And as he leaves, it sounds like Silent Hills is also dead.

Following that confirmation, word spread that Konami has willingly de-listed itself from the New York stock exchange. Now, that's actually not a huge deal, as most of Konami's stock is reportedly traded in Japan and Europe anyway, but it still begs the question: What the heck is going on at the once-revered video game company?

If we ever find out, you can find news on that and more nerdy stuff at GuideLive.com/geek. But either way, I'll see you next week.
