Former 'Saturday Night Live' comic Sasheer Zamata to headline Dallas Comedy Festival

A former Saturday Night Live cast member and a lauded improv group will share headlining duties for this year's Dallas Comedy Festival, March 27-31.

New York stand-up comic Sasheer Zamata is on her way to Dallas. She was on SNL from 2014 to last year, and she followed that up with a one-hour special called Pizza Mind. Zamata (Transparent; Inside Amy Schumer; This American Life; and Sleight) was a chameleon on the late-night comedy show, playing Beyonce and Michelle Obama, among others. She's also a writer and producer.

3Peat is an award-winning sketch group that's based in Chicago. The members met through The Second City and iO Theater and joined to created 3Peat. They are writers and performers and include: John Thibodeaux, Patrick Rowland, Allison Ringhand, Dewayne Perkins, Nnamdi Ngwe, Torian Miller, Shantira Jackson and Lisa Beasley.

The festival adds a second performance spot at Independent Bar & Kitchen, 2712 Main St., Dallas, for this year's edition. The other performances will be held at the festival's home at the Dallas Comedy House, 3025 Main St., Dallas.

Among the rougly 70 acts on the schedule are returning Dallas acts the 1995 Chicago Bulls; CLR; and Encyclopedia Moronica.
