Screen grab from @whataburger on Twitter

Social media does not feel like a warm and fuzzy place these days. Maybe you thought life would go back to normal cat photos and fail videos after the presidential election in November, but even friends with whom you are politically aligned are still tilting at cyber windmills.

Ugh, even that sounds more fun than it actually is...

Seek refuge here: Clever, whimsical tweets from a sentient building, a sassy-af burger joint and adorable apolitical animals, each with a connection to North Texas.

The belle of the ball

Sure, a lot of tourist destinations and landmarks have social media accounts for marketing purposes, but Reunion Tower tweets like a real person trapped in the body of architectural structure who just needs some human contact. It's not, right? Of course not...

It can be a little lonely on her side of the city.

Don't worry, though. She will have lots of company at the finish line of the Rock 'n' Roll half marathon in March. Runners receive this baller homage for finishing the course, and Reunion Tower wants some of that bling too.

Basically, Reunion Tower is a dazzling social butterfly who wants to party in a shimmering sequin dress every. single. night. Show her a good time. Treat her right.

A salty burger joint

They say 'Don't mess with Texas,' and that advice should be extended to the state's favorite fast-food chain. Texans' cult-like obsession with Whataburger isn't saved for the food alone. The company's Twitter account is sassy, clever and unafraid to jump into the fray with a sick burn or funny quip.

Whataburger is like your cool older sibling, a relationship Sherpa to help you navigate the choppy waters of single life.

Guess some extra burger joint has been mouthing off lately, but Whataburger ain't even noticed.

Same. Relatable.

Just grab enough for your whole section.

Salty.

Real salty.

Animals don't even vote

They might have political opinions, but if so the adorable boos at Dallas Zoo aren't into sharing alternative facts or dubious headlines.

The biggest star of the Dallas Zoo's social media game is a little red-headed elephant named Ajabu. He was the Zoo's go-to choice when they jumped in yesterday's #cuteanimaltweetoff.  (More here: Our Britton Peele called the online "battle" Cuteness Fight Club)

Is our government run by Lizard People? We plead the fifth. Love on this cold blooded dude instead.

All the feels: "Meeting an anteater" was on this awesome kid's bucket list. Now that's diplomacy.

Bottom line: We tip our hats to the unsung heroes behind these Twitter feeds.
