GuideLive GOAT: The best and worst entertainment news in D-FW in 2015

It was quite a year, and to celebrate the best and the not so great points of 2015, we bring you the GuideLive GOAT. Is it the Greatest Of All Time? Or is it an actual goat of a story?

We are taking the concept from our friends at SportsDay (and the athletic community in general) and applying it to the year in entertainment news.

Here's how this list is going to work:

  • A Greatest Of All Time, GOAT, will have a happy baby goat with it.

GOAT — You may remember what GuideLive used to look like before the site was relaunched in March. It looked ... less great then. Now though, by the power of goats, it is the entertainment news website you know and love — pink and all. We hope you keep coming back for more eats, beats, drinks and things to do in 2016!

Dallas got the male version of a breastaurant

GOAT and goat — For a little while there it seemed like we had a new story about Tallywackers every day. So sure, GOAT for us getting the male version of a breastaurant. But also goat for us getting a male version of a breastaurant. Feminism? Evening the playing field? You tell us.

GOAT -- It was easily one of the most anticipated debuts of the year, and Uchi quickly garnered a prestigious and elusive 5-star review just months after opening its third location in Dallas. (Not to mention, it was named Restaurant of the Year.) In 2016, it may face challenges with the departure of Chef Nilton "Junior" Borges, but we're eager for the arrival of its more casual, upstairs sister spot, Top Knot.

Tacos for all!

GOAT — New festival Taco Libre featured deliciousness from more than a dozen local taquerias. And what goat doesn't love a good taco.

Leon Bridges is from Fort Worth, y'all

GOAT — As one of the year's break out performers, this soul and R&B maven never forgot his roots. He hails from Funky Town y'all, not the Big D, and he's proud of it.

goat – DeMarco Murray left the Cowboys and signed with NFC East rival the Philadelphia Eagles. Not that keeping him would have salvaged this season

The GuideLive team ate some really awful things

goat — The smoky bacon margarita at the State Fair of Texas, is all we have to say about that. Oh but wait, also Lay's chip flavors like biscuits and gravy and ruben were pretty bad too.

By the way, beer-flavored jelly beans are awful

goat — Cute presentation, oh gads the smell. The goats say no, thank you. Plus, why anyone would ever want to eat a maple bacon or frosted watermelon Pop Tart is still beyond our understanding of this world.

2016 was the rainiest year ever for D-FW

goat — Heavy rain early in the year did mean fewer burn bans and general drought-related concerns; but, spring floods brought immense damage, danger and really gross, weird things

We hope you have a happy 2016, blessed with many GOATs!
