The real reason Starbucks baristas spell your name wrong

I've seen it all. Rond. Randy. Ran. Rend. Every time I go to Starbucks I see a different spelling of my name. I know Rand is not the most common name, so I try to provide some help "Like Randy, but without the Y," and still I get all sorts of names. It's not just me, I know that even people with easier names are sometimes amazed at how their names change when they walk into Starbucks. They can turn a Melissa to Maileeza, a Richard to Reeshard.
