Well, what do you know: A lot of people in North Texas seem to be excited for Game of Thrones to return this Sunday.
Whether you want to brunch, party, do trivia, head to a bar or just order some Dragon Fire wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, loads of special events are being held before (and during, and after) the premiere to rally the realm for the final season of the HBO juggernaut.
Here’s a roundup on some of the ones you ought to check out:
The Ill Minster Pub
This uptown pub saw the light of The Seven and was inspired to totally redecorate in all things Thrones — including an Iron Throne. The new decor as well as special shots and cocktails will be available through May (at least). The Jon Snow shot is highly recommended.
Monday-Thursday 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., Friday 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. 2600 Cedar Springs Road #1, Dallas. facebook.com/theillminsterpub/.
The Holy Grail Pub
This Plano bar is preparing to eat and drink like winter is here. It's rolling out weekends of food specials, Ommegang craft beers, and special whiskeys made to honor the popular series and the families vying for the Iron Throne.
Each weekend through May 26. Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. 8240 Preston Road #150, Plano. holygrailpub.com/upcoming-events/2019/4/11/game-of-thrones-specials.
Game of Thrones Bar Crawl — Fort Worth
Here’s your chance to do Tyrion Lannister proud by drinking your way across the West 7th area of Fort Worth the day before the final season premiere. Expect drink specials at participating bars as well as prizes from trivia at Landmark Bar & Kitchen and a costume contest at Texas Republic. That’s right: You better dress for Westeros.
Saturday, April 13. 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. West 7th area bars in Fort Worth; wristband pickup is at The Yard between 2-5:30 p.m. $20-$27 each. eventbrite.com/e/game-of-thrones-bar-crawl-fort-worth-tickets-55872754914#tickets.
A Party of Ice and Fire
Brace yourselves: A party is coming. Dance away the Long Night before the Sunday premiere with Game of Thrones-inspired sounds by DJ Taylor Rea at Canton Hall in Deep Ellum. There’ll be drink and shot specials, door prizes, a costume contest, “The Wall” ping pong, photo ops, and more.

Watch Party at the Hot Box Hookah Lounge
This Arlington hookah lounge is planning to host a Thrones watch party every Sunday during the final season. There will be games, raffles and prizes as well as some Game of Thrones-inspired hookah flavors and try some food from different vendors.

Kristian Nairn at It’ll Do
OK, this isn’t exactly something tied to Game of Thrones, but it’s a chance to see Hodor himself DJ. That’s right: Thrones actor Kristian Nairn is headlining an event at Dallas’ It’ll Do club. It’s not a repeat of his Rave of Thrones tour that came to town in 2016, but does it really matter when you have the chance to see the man who held the door?
Friday, April 19. Doors open at 9 p.m. 4322 Elm St., Dallas. $20 each. itlldo.squadup.com/kn.html
Game of Thrones Brunch at Hotel ZaZa
In anticipation of the final season premiere of Thrones, Hotel ZaZa is hosting a pre-party to the epic beginning to the end. Attendees are set to indulge in a brunch feast fit for a king of the Seven Kingdoms with drinks such as bloody mimosas and music by DJ Sober. Costumes are encouraged.
Sunday, April 14. 12 to 8 p.m. 2332 Leonard St., Dallas. $75 each. uptowndallas.net/event/game-thrones-brunch-hotel-zaza/.
Brunch of Thrones at Lava Cantina
The freefolk at Lava Cantina in The Colony see the beginning of the end for Thrones as a good excuse to throw a party. Their themed brunch before the premiere includes special cocktails such as Blood of the Dragon and entrees such as Cersei’s Poison and Beyond the Wall.
Sunday, April 14. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 5805 Grandscape Blvd., The Colony. Kids eat free. facebook.com/events/548534849003121/.
Buffalo Wild Wings
For ONLY Sunday, April 14, Buffalo Wild Wings is pledging itself to the Mother of Dragons with a special wing sauce: Dragon Fire, which mixes chili and ghost peppers with soy and ginger sauce. To make sure you feel the full heat of Drogon’s justice, the wings are then topped with jalapeño garnish. Dragon Fire wings can be purchased in-restaurant or through the Buffalo Wild Wings app/website for takeout. Or you can also have the sauce delivered through DoorDash.
If you ever wondered what burger and milkshake Daenerys Targaryen would enjoy after roasting the undead, wonder no more. Starting on Friday, Shake Shack is expanding its limited-edition Game of Thrones menu nationwide. The Dragonglass Shake, which is a mint chip shake topped with black toffee shards, will be available at most Shake Shacks except for those at special locations such as DFW Airport. The Dracarys Burger, a double Monterey Jack cheeseburger with bacon and "fiery Shack Sauce," will only be available in D-FW at the Uptown Dallas location. The special should run through April 21.
Feast of Thrones at the Cookery
The Cookery aims to indulge with special cooking classes that will teach participants how to make meals worthy of George R.R. Martin’s own writing. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a themed welcome appetizer along with their choice of honey mead or ale. A professional cooking instructor will then guide the class in creating three-courses of savory Game of Thrones-inspired dishes before enjoying the meal together. Reservations are required.
Six dates: April 13, 19 and 27; May 4, 11 and 18. 1130 Dragon St., #180, Dallas. $95 each. Times vary by date. thecookerydallas.rezclick.com/.
