A retro-inspired hotel in Las Colinas called Texican Court sits, stunning, in an opportune area. Texican Court is 15 minutes from DFW International Airport and across the street from Irving Convention Center in a rapidly changing part of Las Colinas near the Toyota Music Factory.
The hotel opened Nov. 15, 2018, and has about 150 rooms, three courtyards and a pool. It looks a bit like the Belmont Hotel in West Dallas, with its stucco facade and vintage accents. There's a flavor of Marfa here, despite the threat of suburban homes and chain restaurants nearby.
And for anyone staying there (or driving by), Texican Court also operates a Southwestern restaurant and tequila bar. Two Mules Cantina opened quietly in December.
The menu items are Southwestern, explained in a press release as having "big, bold and zesty flavors." Dishes from executive chef Patrick Hildebrandt include chilaquiles, brisket Fritos pie, a Texican burger and cochinita pibil. The restaurant follows the Southwestern approach, with a big fireplace where they hope you'll sit and sip a margarita.
The restaurant seats 75 people inside and 30 on a patio. The tequila bar seats 15.
We're struck by the beautiful photos of the hotel and its desert-cool vibe. Each room comes stocked with an orange Smeg refrigerator, and there are rocking chairs and cacti galore.
Parent company Valencia Group Hotels also operates Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio; The George and Cavalry Court in College Station; and Lone Star Court in Austin, among others.
