Need weekend plans? We have you covered!

Come get your comedy

By now, you're likely drowning in holiday happenings. If you're looking for a brief respite, there's comedy and other celebrity appearance on deck this weekend.

George Lopez

You can get your laughs Friday night at the Theatre at Grand Prairie when comedian George Lopez stops through on his Wall World Tour. Folks know and love Lopez from his namesake sitcom, and rest assured he's taking on all the hot-button issues of today's American society in his stand-up routine. Tickets to the show start at $37.50.

If you're up for a little road trip, Jerry Seinfeld is performing at the WinStar World Casino in Oklahoma on Saturday. The $85 tickets are almost sold out on Ticketmaster, but they are widely available on resale sites. If you hit the casino floor early, maybe you can win some extra cash to pay for entry.

Meet and greet with a former first lady

Back in Dallas, former first lady Michelle Obama is making an appearance at American Airlines Center on Monday on her book tour. Her memoir, Becoming, was released in November and she'll be sharing personal anecdotes from it. This is another hot event, so tickets are only available on resale sites.

Fly with the Rocket Man

See all of Elton John's tour stops in Dallas, from 1971 to 2018's farewell

And one concert for good measure: The Rocket Man himself, Elton John, is in Dallas for a two-night run at American Airlines Center on his farewell tour. As you're probably aware, he bid farewell to touring back in 1977, so who knows if this will one stick. Tickets are pricey; I didn't find anything available for less than a couple hundred dollars. But if this really is his last trip around the globe, you don't want to miss him.

Quirky holiday fun

If you're not burnt out on the holidays yet, there are two quirky ways to celebrate. Friday night, Arts Fifth Avenue is hosting a Va Va Voom Burlesque Holiday special with a naughty or nice cabaret. Tickets to jingle all sorts of ways cost $20.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Artes de la Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts is celebrating the season with a Mariachi Christmas performance, complete with music and ballet folklorico, at the Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth. Tickets start at $20 to attend.

Tiney Ricciardi offers her weekend event picks every Thursday at 7:40 a.m. on KLIF-AM (570).
