Skate into the weekend

Panther Island Ice

Holiday festivities are officially in full swing this weekend, and one great way to get in on the action is with ice skating. I recommend hitting Panther Island Ice at Coyote Drive-In movie theater in Fort Worth. The outdoor rink is open every day of the week, including Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $12 per person, and skate rentals are included in that price. Local students and military can get discounts on entry, as can groups of 15 or more, so feel free to bring the whole family.

If you'd rather spectate, Disney on Ice presents Frozen is at Allen Event Center now through Nov 25. The beloved Disney tale follows Princesses Elsa and Anna on a wintry journey that you can expect to play out on ice alongside their pals Olaf and Kristoff. There will also be appearances from other Disney princesses. Tickets range $35 and up.

Start your shopping

Christkindl German Holiday Market

Have some shopping to do? There's a German market popping up at Texas Live, the new entertainment complex by Globe Life Park in Arlington. Beginning Nov. 23, the outdoor plaza there will be transformed into a Christkindl German Holiday Market, a German-style bazaar featuring gifts, decorations and collectibles. The market will be open daily through Dec. 23, just in case you're a procrastinator. It's free to browse, but you want to be careful on Dallas Cowboys games days, as parking will cost you.

Grab a spot of tea

Another fun event series that starts this weekend is Holiday Tea at the Adolphus hotel. Starting Friday, the esteemed French Room restaurant hosts several tea times from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., where guests can enjoy sandwiches, scones and pastries paired with teas. It's an elegant Dallas tradition that's also a great way to treat someone if you're looking to give an experiential gift this season. The event cost $59 a head.

10 concerts in D-FW you don't want to miss this holiday season

Sing along

And if you're in the mood for holiday music, local a capella group Pentatonix comes to the Theatre at Grand Prairie on Sunday to perform tunes from their latest album, Christmas is Here! There are select tickets available, and the cheapest I could find was $59.50. But if you're buying resale, expect to pay more.

Spin, flip, slam dunk

And one non-holiday event for good measure: The Harlem Globetrotters are in D-FW this weekend for what is always a fun performance of basketball tricks and flips. They're at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco on Friday before hitting American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday, with two shows in each city. Tickets start $15-$20 depending on which venue you go to.

Tiney Ricciardi offers her weekend event picks every Thursday at 7:40 a.m. on KLIF-AM (570).
