Want NFL Draft updates during the first round? Look at the Dallas skyline

Thursday night, when thousands of people will be packed into AT&T Stadium to watch the NFL Draft, anyone closer to downtown Dallas can simply look to the skyline for real-time info.

The Omni Dallas hotel will show live updates on the side of the hotel, which is lined with LED lights that reach 22 stories tall.

The lights will show the words "on the clock" as well as the name of the NFL team currently picking its professional player and the NFL draft logo. It will not show the name of the player picked.

"With the structure of the lights and the uncertainty of the pick, we would not be able to program the name in a timely manner," says Amber Bufkin, marketing manager at the Omni Dallas.

It's the first time the Omni has offered real-time updates to this scale on the side of its hotel, she says.

The special "on the clock" updates take place only on the first (and, let's be honest, the most exciting) night of the draft, Thursday, April 26. The draft continues at AT&T Stadium through April 28.

The public is invited to a free event called the NFL Draft Experience outside of AT&T Stadium. Find details on the food and music.
