Chinese New Year Festival (UPDATED)

The Chinese New Year begins Friday, Feb. 16 and D-FW will be celebrating big this weekend.

One can't-miss event is the Chinese New Year Festival at NorthPark Center in Dallas. Part of the festival was meant to be held at Klyde Warren Park, but organizers moved the whole thing to NorthPark due to a forecast of rain.

On Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the shopping center will be buzzing with lion and dragon dances, kung fu and tai chi demonstrations, and thematic crafts. The celebration, which ushers in the Year of the Dog, is free to attend. Find out more at crowcollection.org.

The Morning After Brunch Festival

There's a food festival this weekend that specializes in my favorite meal: brunch. More than 20 restaurants and coffee shops will pop up at the Dallas Farmers Market for The Morning After Brunch Festival. A $40 ticket buys entry and as many bites you can fit in your stomach, as well as eight brunch cocktails ranging from bubbly and beer to Bloody Marys and more. (Tickets cost $50 the day of the event.) The fun happens fittingly on Saturday, but not too early. The festival runs 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Fashion forward

If fashion speaks to you, head to the Bomb Factory in Dallas on Saturday evening for a stylish event known as The Pin Show. The fashion show features the latest looks in streetwear, swimwear, evening wear and more. There will even be a pop-up marketplace where you can shop if you see something you like. The event also includes live music from a local band. Tickets to that start at $33.

"World's Largest" Daytona 500 Watch Party

This weekend also marks one of the biggest events all NASCAR season: The Daytona 500. If you can't be in Florida to partake in the action, head to Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth for a party of epic proportions. The self-proclaimed World's Largest Daytona 500 Watch Party invites fans to bring their RVs to camp out and tailgate at the race track beginning Saturday at 8 a.m. Weekend races will be played on the 12-story-tall TV there known as Big Hoss. And you can have all this fun for the price of free with an RSVP through the venue's website.

Tiney Ricciardi offers her weekend event picks every Thursday at 7:40 a.m. on KLIF-AM (570).
