Holiday fun has been invading Dallas-Fort Worth recently and this weekend is no different. If you're up in the northern part of the region, consider checking out the Cowboys Christmas Spectacular.

This is recurring show at the Star in Frisco featuring performances from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and the team's Rhythm and Blues Dancers and Drumline. There's a gorgeous, 52-foot Christmas tree and Santa even makes an appearance there. This is a great event for the whole family and it's free to attend every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 22. The show kicks off at 6 p.m., which gives you plenty of time before or after to check out some of the new restaurants that have opened nearby.

Over in Fort Worth, the Foundry District is hosting a neighborhood market and celebration called Winter Wonderland. This is a great little event if you still have some holiday shopping to do. Locals can shop at the stores, such as Feather clothing and home goods, and peruse vendors like Dude, Sweet Chocolate, which will be set up inside the Violet Room warehouse. There will also be live music and a gift-wrapping station. That will be paired with a rapping station where kids and add a new musical spin on classic holiday songs. The fun runs from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday night, choral rock band Polyphonic Spree is hosting its 15th Annual Holiday Extravaganza at Majestic Theatre. It's not that much different from a regular Polyphonic Spree show, with the same untamed energy and festive atmosphere the band is known for. But attendees can expect lots of costumes, holiday music, and guest performances, usually followed by a traditional set of Polyphonic Spree tunes. This event is another great one for the whole family.

The party starts at 7 p.m. and tickets that are available range $35-$40 depending on where you'd like to sit.

For people like me, the holidays are all about guiltless eating. But for those looking to balance their food intake with exercise, the BMW Dallas Marathon is a choice pick this weekend. The main events take place on Sunday morning and include runners traversing a full marathon, half-marathon and five-person relay race. Even just spectating is a blast, especially since you can post up at a bar and restaurant or near one of the numerous landmarks on the route. This year, there are also 5K and 10K races on Saturday. And the traditional Health and Fitness Expo is open Friday and Saturday, so you can take a look at merchandise and gear, all that good stuff.

Admission to the expo is free, but the races will cost you $49 to $449, depending on which one you register for.

Aaahh!!! Little Monsters

Last, but certainly not least, the always entertaining Lady Gaga comes to Dallas this weekend. This is one of the most highly anticipated concerts of the 2017 -- she originally announced her tour after performing during the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year. She takes the stage at American Airlines Center on Friday in support of her latest album, Joanne. Tickets are limited, but some are available on secondary markets.

Tiney Ricciardi offers her weekend event picks every Thursday at 7:40 a.m. on KLIF-AM (570).
