Basketball, beers and Shake Shack burgers top the best things to do in D-FW this weekend

Need weekend plans? We have you covered!

This one's a slam dunk

The big talker this weekend is the NCAA Women's Final Four tournament. If you're looking to take in one of the games, the first round is on Friday night with matches at 6:30 and 9 p.m. at American Airlines Center in Dallas. And the championship game happens Sunday at 5 p.m. in the same location.

But the Final Four fun isn't limited to just those games. There's a festival called Tourney Town happening Friday through Sunday at American Airlines Center. That includes autograph sessions with some of the players, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame induction and, on Saturday, the World's Largest Game of H-O-R-S-E.

All those events are free, as is the concert that country star Pat Green will be playing on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. before the championship at American Airlines Center.

Festival season is in full swing and this weekend offers a couple things for the foodies in town.

The Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival runs Thursday through Saturday and features a variety of events around Cowtown. Some of the highlights include all the food and wine you can handle at the Main Event on Friday night and a brunch-inspired sampling on Saturday morning, called Rise and Dine.

If you'd rather just kick back some beers and enjoy some music, head to the Big Texas Beer Festival in Fair Park. More than 120 breweries from around the world will have booths set up in the Automobile Building where beer nerds can sample the goods. This is a two-day festival, so you can go either Friday or Saturday. (Or if you're like me, both.) Tickets start at $35 for a single-day pass.

Want a bite of the buzziest thing in town? Shack Shack burger joint opened its second local location in Plano on Wednesday. And, amazingly, lines weren't that long. But you can likely expect to wait for a burger, crinkle fries or frozen custard over the weekend.
