7 awesome beer events to quench your thirst this summer

Leaving the comfort of your air conditioned house can seem like a chore when it's this damn hot outside, but we have a good reason for you: beer.

Bars and breweries throughout North Texas are making the summer more bearable with a variety of fun events. Believe us, these eight are worth getting in your abysmally hot car for.

Ninkasi Last Band Standing

Oregon's Ninkasi Brewing Co. has partnered with local organizations Untapped Festival and Spune to offer one local band the chance of a lifetime. Throughout the summer, local bands will compete in a series of free, head-to-head concerts at venues around D-FW before a final showcase on Oct. 1. One will be crowned the "last band standing." Said winner, determined by a panel of five people, earns a spot among the Untapped Festival lineup, and an all-expenses-paid trip to Ninkasi's facility, where they'll record at the brewery's studio. How cool is that?

If there are two things Denton is known for, they're music and art. Both come together at Lone Star Taps and Caps this month, when the growler bar hosts a series of concerts and open mic nights through the month of July. Shows are generally on the weekends and cost $1, which goes directly to the performers.
