There's a 'nap mobile' coming to D-FW but even if you make an appointment, you still might have to wait

We originally reported that you might have to share the nap pod with somebody else, based on the number of appointment slots Casper was offering. They have since reached out to clarify that, no, you won't be forced to share your mattress with a stranger.

If you happen to be at White Rock Lake on Friday, you can experience the quirky but odd Nap Tour brought to you by the sleep startup Casper.

Or you could plan to go there and take a nap ... but I never plan on napping. It just happens. I also don't ever leave my home solely for the purpose of napping.

After starting in Toronto on the "East Nap Tour," the Nap Mobile has gone through four other cities in the past four weeks before coming south to embrace Dallas nappers at a different location each day this weekend (when we will all race to any place with shade to escape the heat).

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

The nap capsule (each pod is a hexagon, so you're more or less napping in an escape pod from Star Trek) is air conditioned and has sheets, pillows and a mattress for all of the potential nappers of D-FW who walk by.

According to Casper, all of the locations for the Nap Mobile in D-FW were chosen to be near places where Texans are commonly found outdoors. But was that really the best idea? The current predicated high for this weekend is a skin melting 1000 degrees – uh, I mean 100 degrees.

Even though the nappers will probably be sweaty runners (no shame, we all experience the sweat that comes from the sweltering temperatures here), one nice perk is that Casper won't wake you up if there's no line of people, so keep on napping.

Oh, but you might end up waiting in line even if you made an appointment.

When asked about how many people could nap at once – I was thinking about the total number of beds – Casper said that since they were using full-size beds, two to three people could nap comfortably.

But don't worry, if you want a private nap, you'll have one.

(Why would you have to wait? Well, Casper is scheduling 12 nap appointments per 15 minute slot on their website, and there are only four nap pods on the truck. If you made an appointment, you better hope the number of other people showing up drops down to four, or it might turn into the Hunger Games to choose four nappers if no one shares.)

Each nap appointment (or walk up, if they have space) lasts 15 minutes. But let's be real, has anyone ever taken a 15 minute nap? My prime nap length is three hours – wait, maybe that qualifies as sleeping instead of napping.

Either way, a nap is a nap, and the world will always be a better place if people take more naps. Rest is a complete necessity, even if you're resting in a peculiar place.
