10 places in D-FW for Mother's Day brunch

Mother's Day dining options are almost as diverse as the women being celebrated. There are classic brunch dishes, including traditional eggs Benedict and steak and eggs, but there are also places serving burgers and beer and breakfast tacos and Bloody Marys. Blue Mesa Grill 

For Mother's Day brunch, all five locations will offer a buffet with enchiladas, a taco bar, huevos rancheros, chicken and waffles, King Ranch casserole and stations for omelets, carved meats, salads and desserts. Sparkling wine, mimosas, coffee, tea and soft drinks will be included. May 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all five locations, plus May 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Addison, Arlington, Dallas and Plano locations. $22 per adult, $7 for children 6-11, free for children 5 and younger.

Crossroads Diner 

This restaurant is beloved for its sticky buns, but it also serves cheffy takes on old-school diner grub and comfort food. Breakfast is served all day Tuesdays through Sundays, including Mother’s Day, and the selection includes biscuits and gravy, pancakes, waffles, frittatas and other egg dishes, bacon and sausage. The lunch menu, which is served starting at 11 a.m., features meatloaf, chicken-fried steak, burgers, salads, deli sandwiches (including corned beef and Swiss cheese) and more. Dallas Arboretum

Celebrate Mother’s Day brunch at Rosine Hall, which looks out onto gardens in bloom with petunias, zinnias, impatiens, begonias and more during the annual Dallas Blooms display. The buffet menu will include Belgian waffles, smoked sirloin, honey-glazed ham, smoked salmon and bagels, fruit, salads and pastries, plus a mini buffet for kids with chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. May 8 at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. $68 per person, $30 for children 5-10, free for children 4 and younger. The Grill on the Alley 

This elegant eatery at Galleria Dallas will offer several a la carte specials for Mother’s Day brunch, including crab cake Benedict ($18.75), filet mignon and eggs ($32.75), kale salad with salmon ($23.50) and tomahawk steak for two ($85.75). LAW Restaurant

The Four Seasons replaced Cafe on the Green with this Texas-inspired place whose name stands for "Land, Air and Water." The regular menu uses those words to divide its entrees by where the main ingredient calls home, but the Mother's Day buffet brunch will stick to the standards: carved meat, breakfast items, salads, sides and desserts. The menu will include rosemary-rubbed Wagyu beef, plank-roasted salmon, pecan wood-smoked chicken breast and blackened Texas redfish. A children's buffet will have chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The Lot Dallas

This East Dallas restaurant has a kid-friendly menu and a patio area with a sandy section where children can run and play. For the grown-ups, there is a Tex-Mex brunch menu with breakfast tacos ($8), chilaquiles ($8.50), a chicken enchilada inside a three-egg omelet ($9), and green eggs ranchero with salsa verde, cilantro and avocado ($10). Don't forget the $5 Bloody Marys and mimosas. The children's menu includes eight items for less than $8. With Cap'n Crunch French toast and Nutella waffles on its brunch buffet, this Park Cities hot spot may make Mom feel like a kid again on her special day. The holiday menu will also include herb-roasted beef tenderloin, fig-glazed pork loin, orange-ginger glazed salmon and oysters. There will be a menu for actual kids that will include quesadillas, meatballs, chicken strips and macaroni and cheese. And all ages will be able to choose from cotton candy, ice cream, cakes, pies and petits fours for dessert. This near-Turtle Creek place offers a fixed-price brunch every Sunday, including Mother's Day. For $23, choose one entree (applewood smoked bacon omelet; spinach, mushroom and tomato egg white omelet; French toast; or eggs Benedict) and one drink (coffee, juice, mimosa, limoncello mimosa, Bloody Maria, Bellini or lemonade with sparkling wine and vodka). Brunch at a health food place? Though that might sound contradictory, this Preston Center clean-eating restaurant offers an a la carte brunch on weekends. In addition to healthy-sounding items such as an inside-out quinoa burger and antioxidant drinks, the menu includes muffins, pancakes, burritos, burgers, wraps, tacos, lasagna and pizza. Beer, wine and cocktails are also available.
