Grab your flapper costume and dust off your Charleston dance moves. Klyde Warren Park will host a Valentine's-themed festival with a Roaring '20s theme. There will be family-friendly activities including crafts, dancing and a photo booth. The movie The Great Gatsby will also be shown.

Dallas Comic Con Fan Days

If you're a fan of DC Comics-based shows that are currently on the air, you'll be well taken care of at Dallas Comic Con Fan Days. Big names from Arrow, The Flash and Gotham will be at the event for both days (think Stephen Amell, John Barrowman, Robbie Amell and Sean Pertwee). Old-school pop culture fans have plenty to look forward to as well, particularly thanks to the cast of Dukes of Hazzard, with appearances from Tom Wopat, John Schneider and Catherine Bach. In addition to photo and autograph ops, attractions include speed dating for those 19 and up, costume contests and panels.

  • Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center, 500 W. Las Colinas Blvd., Irving. $30-$45 for single-day tickets, $60-$129 for two-day passes. Free for kids 5 and younger, $5 for ages 6 to 12.

Chinese New Year Festival

It's the Year of the Monkey, and the Crow Collection is celebrating the occasion with its 17th annual free party that spills out to Flora and Harwood streets. There'll be performances every hour, lion and dragon dances, calligraphy demonstrations, face painting, fortune telling, a photo booth, kung fu lessons and family yoga. Traditional art activities held throughout the day include decorating red envelopes and making Year of the Monkey masks and glowing paper lanterns. Food trucks -- including Bobaddiction, Bombay Chopstix, Simply Dosa, Nammi, Easy Slider and Trailer Cakes -- will be on-site. The festivities are capped off with a fireworks display, expected to begin at 7:15 p.m.

Monster Jam

Check out the debut of the Gas Monkey Garage truck, featuring a '70s muscle car body created by Richard Rawlings of the Discovery Channel show Fast N' Loud, at this event. The trucks in Monster Jam are custom-designed, sitting atop 66-inch-tall tires and weighing at least 10,000 pounds, and they take part in races and freestyle competitions.

Thin Line Festival

What's billed as the state's only documentary film festival starts Feb. 17 and will run for five days. It was once strictly a film festival, but attendees can now can expect music and photography (including a regional photography contest). Nearly $20,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded for best feature and short documentaries of the year. Local videos showcasing the Denton community also will be screened under a new category, "Our Town Denton: A Visual History." The opening night film is How to Let Go of the World (and Love All The Things Climate Can't Change), and director Josh Fox will attend.

Deep Ellum Mimosa Walk

Sip mimosas and shop local. The first Valentine's Day Mimosa Walk is hitting Deep Ellum, and you're invited, no lover necessary. The folks at Deep Ellum Wine Walk are behind the event, and guests can pick up a special edition mimosa Valentine's Day glass for $10 at the check-in table outside Kettle Art. Neighborhood merchants will have in-store events and special promotions to celebrate the season of love.
