[Update at 11 a.m. Oct. 5: Both general admission and VIP tickets to Meat Fight are now sold out.]

New to Meat Fight? Here are the juicy details: On Nov. 15 at Trinity Groves, four teams of four local chefs, including the Blind Butcher's Oliver Sitrin, Casa Rubia's Omar Flores and Remedy's Danyele McPherson, will compete in four categories: brisket, pulled pork, sausage and "wild card." Barbecue experts, including Aaron Franklin of Austin's Franklin Barbecue and Texas Monthly barbecue editor Daniel Vaughan, will judge this year's cook-off.

But Meat Fight's real battle is getting a ticket to attend the event. Last year's general admission sold out in eight minutes. So mark your calendar and preregister on prekindle.com to save some precious minutes on Monday morning. Tickets will be $95 per person, $175 for VIP, and the full ticket price gets donated.

This year's event has a Christmas theme, so ticket holders will get to meet Meat Santa, in addition to participating in all the usual Meat Fight activities such as a midway with meat-themed carnival games, whiskey and beer tastings, and crazy cuisine such as fried PB&J -- and bacon -- sandwiches from Abel Gonzales, the State Fair of Texas vendor who created this year's Big Tex Choice Award finalist Chicken Fried Lobster with Champagne Gravy.
