The Biscuit Bar has opened in Dallas; you butter get some while it's hot

A shop called The Biscuit Bar opened across the street from Southern Methodist University in Dallas on Tuesday, May 21.

The thing to get here is, well, a biscuit: There's biscuits and gravy, biscuit french toast, burgers with a biscuit, Nashville hot chicken on a biscuit, and a Philly cheesesteak biscuit sandwich, to name a few. There's also the Chicken & Not-A-Waffle. (Spoiler: It's a biscuit!) For dessert, the shop sells deep-fried biscuit nuggets and a Hot Chocolate Biscuit topped with "chocolate gravy" and marshmallow fluff.

There's also a salad. Hnh. But wait: It has biscuit croutons!

For anyone craving a carb of a different variety, the menu includes a "tots" section, with gravy, cheese and other delights loaded into a bowl of tater tots.

The Biscuit Bar is owned by Janie and Jake Burkett, who opened their first Biscuit Bar in Plano, near the Dallas North Tollway and Highway 121, a year ago.

Despite a biscuit's obvious role during breakfasttime, the shops are open until after dinnertime, seven days a week. (They're even open until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.) On weekdays, The Biscuit Bar does happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close, with deals on biscuits, tater tots, cocktails and beers.

A neon sign inside the shop says "Mind your biscuits and life will be gravy." Precisely.

The Biscuit Bar is located at 6501 Hillcrest Ave., Dallas.
