Cane Rosso pizza shop closed in Dallas suburb

Pizza joint Cane Rosso closed in Fairview after dinner service on March 16. A Facebook message confirms the news, saying that "We gave it a good run here in the great white north, but the time has come to let the fire in the oven die down."

The restaurant was located near E. Stacy Road and N. Central Expressway, in the Village at Fairview, a shopping center full of restaurants and retail stores.

The other five Cane Rossos are still open: in Frisco, Carrollton, Fort Worth, Deep Ellum and East Dallas.

Another Cane Rosso, in the Houston area, closed at the end of 2018, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Cane Rosso serves Neapolitan pizza, which is cooked in a super hot oven for only a few minutes. The owner of Cane Rosso, Jay Jerrier, also operates Zoli's NY Pizza — another pizza option for anyone who doesn't dig the Neapolitan style of thin, floppy crust.

Beyond pizzas, the Cane Rosso in Fairview sold salads and pasta. The restaurant was known for its desserts, like the Edgar: a pizza crust topped with vanilla bean mascarpone, Nutella, toasted marshmallows and powdered sugar.
