A new food challenge in has officially been thrown down in North Texas: Patrons at Kenny's East Coast Pizza in Plano are welcome to voluntarily try to eat a 32-inch pizza covered in 50 pepperonis.

Wednesday night, Jacob Rha and Richard Truong, both Yelp Elites, each invited a friend to team up and try to tackle the giant pizza in pairs. It's covered in 1 pound of cheese and a half-pound of sauce, and it must be consumed by two people in a 45-minute time span.  What's the damage to your diet? It's a whopping 10,000 calories.

That's the equivalent of five days' worth of calories for the average person. Watch the video below to see if they were successful.

The challenge is available to anyone, though they suggest customers call ahead. Those who succeed don't have to pay for the pizza, get a T-shirt and get their picture placed on Kenny's wall of fame.

Plano is one of the nation's 'top foodie cities' — ranked higher than Austin

And what happens for those who fail? They'd better be ready to dish out $50 and be pictured on the wall of shame near the bathrooms.

We watched this challenge in person, and it's not for the faint of heart. The first few slices, easily four times the normal size pizza slice, seemed to go down easy, with a lot of smiles. The first contestants hit a proverbial wall on the third or fourth slice, as a look of concern slowly came over each competitor's face.

Better luck next time.

Kenny's East Coast Pizza is located at 4701 W. Park Blvd. (near Ohio Drive), Plano.
