The vibe at Alamo Club is "Texas." And yeah, a state can also be a state of mind.

Alamo Club is a new restaurant located on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, taking the place of the Blind Butcher. The new restaurant's owner Austin Rodgers remembers the Alam— well, not literally. He enjoyed visits as a kid and is a fan of "Davy Crockett and the gang, for sure."

His new restaurant and bar identifies itself as many new spots in Dallas in 2019 will: as a neighborhood spot, one where you don't need a reservation. (This is a thing. Rodgers has worked at Nick & Sam's, Neighborhood Services, Off-Site Kitchen and more. Rodgers says in a press release that the menu at his new restaurant is "simple" and the food "crave-able."

The concise menu includes appetizers priced from $6 to $12: crispy chicken with gravy, pigs in a blanket, and "pink dip" — a bar snack made of cream cheese and hot sauce. Entrees include a bacon-cheddar burger, a pastrami sandwich and ... spaghetti? Alamo Club will likely offer a rotating noodle dish, with the pasta made in-house, though you might have to ask for it, off-menu.

Why Lowest Greenville, the hot restaurant neighborhood in Dallas with a parking problem*, is going to be just fine

In the kitchen and at the bar, the name is Kyle: The bar manager is Kyle Buckelew, formerly of Las Almas Rotas and Cedars Social, and the chef is Kyle Newberry, of Vespaio in Austin.

Alamo Club will move into a busy, changing, Lowest Greenville neighborhood. Most recently, local restaurants like Tacos Mariachi have moved in while BBBop Seoul Kitchen and Dude, Sweet Chocolate moved out. Parking can be tough, but there's valet on both sides of Greenville Avenue.

Rodgers envisions his restaurant as a place for Lowest Greenville's neighbors. "We want Alamo Club to be their home away from home," he says.

Alamo Club, now open, is located at 1919 Greenville Ave., Dallas.
