Far North Texas town is getting a Raising Cane's chicken joint in 2019

Raising Cane's fanatics are called Caniacs, and they're already reading this story.

So here's something to cluck about: Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers is opening a restaurant in Prosper. It joins a big number of Raising Cane's already operating in North Texas — nearly four-dozen — but Caniacs living near Prosper will note: This will be their Raising Cane's.

Construction started on Cane's in January 2019 and is expected to open in April 2019 at 4760 W. University Drive, Prosper. It'll be the 144th Raising Cane's in Texas and the 445th Raising Cane's in the world, according to a press release.

Director Luke Overman believes this is "the perfect location at the intersection of Highway 423 and Highway 380," he says in a statement.

The restaurant is known for its trim menu of fried chicken, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and Cane's sauce. Only. You want ranch dressing? Well, you can't have it. Cane's sauce is a secret recipe that's kind of like a tangy, peppery ketchup-mayo, and Caniacs are fanatical about it.

Raising Cane's competes in Dallas-Fort Worth with fast-food chicken restaurants like Chick-fil-A, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Golden Chick, Chicken Express, Layne's Chicken Fingers and local joint Bubba's Cooks Country (with restaurants in University Park and a coming-soon one in Frisco).

Managers at the Raising Cane's in Prosper are expected to hire 80 people.
