We're all about to do the same thing right now. Ready? We're about to count how many of these nine Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants we've visited.

The good news is, you've likely eaten at a few. Unlike many "top restaurants" lists that tend to sway toward reservations-only spots worth visiting on an anniversary or a birthday, TripAdvisor's lists in 2018 focus on two more casual categories, everyday dining and fast casual, in addition to the fancy fine-dining list.

The travel website culled millions of TripAdvisor reviews — which are believed to be written by real people — to make a list of the world's best restaurants between the time frame of June 2017 and June 2018. They call the lists Traveler's Choice, or restaurants worth stopping at during a trip, as picked by people (who could be) just like you and me.

The first notable D-FW restaurant is among TripAdvisor's best everyday dining restaurants. Of 25, Pecan Lodge landed at No. 22 and was called "crazy good barbecue" online by one couple from Canada. We'll note that although Pecan Lodge is an excellent example of great central Texas barbecue, those of us in Dallas don't exactly consider it "everyday dining." Because of that long line. But should travelers put it on a short list of Texas restaurants to visit? Absolutely.

See the list of 25 everyday dining restaurants here. Pecan Lodge was the only Texas restaurant on the list.

Where Dallas-Fort Worth really showed up was in TripAdvisor's list of best fast-casual restaurants.

Here in Dallas, we order at the counter. A lot.

Pizza joint backed by LeBron James fires up 20-restaurant expansion in D-FW

Of the 25 fast-casual joints on TripAdvisor's list, eight are in Dallas-Fort Worth. (Note, these restaurants are often not originally from D-FW. But they've expanded here.) They are:

Shake Shack, easily one of the biggest restaurant stories of 2016 in North Texas.

Blaze Fast Fire'd Pizza, the LeBron James backed pizza brand that's expanding in a major way here. They want to open as many as 20 Blazes in D-FW in three years.

In-N-Out Burger, the California chain that spooked some Whataburger fans upon arrival. Remember the sweet Texas woman who cried tears of joy when she took her first bites of an In-N-Out Burger here?

15 essential burger joints in Dallas-Fort Worth

Five Guys. There are at least a dozen in D-FW.

Torchy's Tacos, the winner of our best queso poll.

MOD Pizza, another build-your-own, fast-cookin' pizza joint. D-FW has four MODs, with one more on the way.

Firehouse Subs. This sandwich shop has more than 100 locations in Texas.

BurgerFi, a newish burger joint that has spread to Dallas, Arlington and Fort Worth.

TripAdvisor reviewers' favorites were also whittled into a list of the 25 best fine-dining restaurants in the world. TripAdvisor reviewers ranked just two restaurants in the United States: French restaurants Gabriel Kreuther and Daniel, both in New York City. (For a spotlight on 25 top fine-dining restaurants in the United States, specifically, see this TripAdvisor list. But don't expect to see any restaurants in Texas named.)

The takeaway: Welcome to Dallas-Fort Worth, a mecca for cheeseburgers and pizza.

Correction at 4 p.m. Dec. 5, 2018: This story incorrectly included Teddy's Bigger Burgers in Colleyville as one of the fast-casual restaurants in D-FW. It has been removed because Teddy's closed in late October.
