You won't be able to watch pornography at Starbucks in 2019

Starting in 2019, Starbucks has said it will block pornography on its wifi networks.

It was always against Starbucks' policies, Business Insider notes, but the company did not have content blockers to keep people from watching pornography in its stores.

An online plea on citizengo.org asked people to sign a "P*rn Free Wifism petition" aimed at Starbucks and other companies years earlier. Nearly 27,000 people have signed it now, and news reports suggest that escalating pressure caused Starbucks to comply.

Internet safety advocacy group Enough Is Enough's CEO Donna Rice Hughes told BI "she was 'thrilled' that Starbucks said it was rolling out a solution," but said "the chain had lagged behind others — including McDonald's, Subway, and Chick-fil-A — that introduced filters in 2016 or earlier."

Starbucks has not yet said how, exactly, it will block people from viewing porn.
