Dallas-made chocolate lands on Oprah's 2018 Favorite Things list

It all started with a pair of red-checkered flannel pajamas. When Oprah found those and a pair of Ugg boots, she couldn't keep them to herself.

Those two cozy items launched a now famous list of gift items known as Oprah's Favorite Things. Every year, the media mogul advises fans on hot new things she can't live without, from clothing and beauty products to technology and pet must-haves.

Oprah's 2018 list came out Wednesday and features a delicious product from Dallas-based chocolatier Kate Weiser.

Carl the Snowman is a 6-inch tall chocolate sculpture that makes luscious hot chocolate for drinking. Each snowman is handmade out of dark chocolate and his "snowballs" are filled with hot cocoa mix and mini marshmallows, so that all you need to do is melt Carl in a pot of milk to create a decadent drink.

Carl the Snowman, which debuted in Dallas in 2014, costs $38 on Amazon and makes about 5-8 cups of cocoa.

Locals can also find Carl the Snowman at Kate Weiser Chocolate shops in Dallas' NorthPark Center and Trinity Groves neighborhood, and Fort Worth's Shops at Clearfork development.
