Healthful restaurant Flower Child plans December opening in Addison

This story was updated Dec. 5, 2018 with information on the opening date for the Flower Child in Addison.

Flower Child, a fast-casual restaurant near Inwood Road and Lovers Lane in Dallas, is one of a dozen of its kind across the United States. The Dallas shop is the busiest of all of them, says Sam Fox, CEO and founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts.

No surprise, then: Dallas will eventually be home to more Flower Childs.

Fox says his company has one lease signed in Addison, and that restaurant opened Dec. 5, 2018. Other restaurants might open at Preston/Royal and in Uptown Dallas, Fox says, though leases there are not signed.

Flower Child serves healthy food in a vibrant setting. You could compare it to a quicker version of True Food Kitchen. (And in fact, Fox Restaurant Concepts used to own True Food until it spun off on its own now that there are more than 20 of those across the country.) Flower Child in Dallas often has lines out the door at lunchtime.

The menu is mostly made up of lean proteins, cooked vegetables and ancient grains.

In Addison, the restaurant will be located at 5290 Belt Line Road, at the intersection at Montfort Drive and near Houston's.

When asked why the existing Dallas restaurant is popular, Fox says, "I think there's something for everyone there. They can eat healthy, they can eat dairy free. They can eat vegan, paleo. There are a lot of different options and a lot of different ways to eat there."
