Frisco eateries offer special menus, lower prices during Restaurant Week

Don't let the name fool you: Restaurant Week is rarely a week. At the Star in Frisco, Restaurant Week lasts an entire month.

Running Sept. 17 through Oct. 14, Restaurant Week in Frisco takes place among the many restaurants located at The Star, the glitzy new home to the Dallas Cowboys.

Each participating restaurant is offering a special menu, like Cane Rosso's $30 per person, three-course option: choice of soup or salad as a starter; pick chicken fettuccine or polenta and meatballs for a main course; and then end with panna cotta or espresso budino for dessert.

Most of the restaurants will donate 15 percent of their Restaurant Week sales to the North Texas Food Bank. Restaurant Week is part of Taste of the Cowboys, an event I said was one of D-FW's most delicious food festivals. It is not affiliated with DFW Restaurant Week, a larger event earlier in 2018 that involved more than 100 restaurants in North Texas.

Participating restaurants at The Star in Frisco include Ascension coffee, which is one of North Texas' fastest-growing small coffee companies; pizza joint Cane Rosso; City Works restaurant and beer bar; Italian restaurant Da Mario; restaurant and club Sushi Marquee; Southern kitchen Tupelo Honey; Mediterranean spot Zaytinya and more.

While many of the dinner menus will cost $20 to $30 per person, this Restaurant Week event is unique in that it also includes fast-casual spots like Freshii, which is offering a $12.99 lunch special and a $14.99 dinner option. Neighborhood Services, one of the higher-end restaurants in the complex, is doing its dinner specials for $40 per person.

Dates and times vary for each spot; visit the Restaurant Week site for details.

Correction at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20, 2018: An earlier version of this story incorrectly referred to City Works as a brewery. It sells beer but doesn't make beer.
