Hey, Frisco: You've got a new healthy drive-thru restaurant

Just in time for the start of school in Frisco, Frisco is getting a Start.

Start Restaurant is a fast-casual restaurant with a drive-thru that prides itself on serving a mostly organic menu, fast. It successfully launched on Dallas' Greenville Avenue in 2012 and has expanded to a second location on Lemmon Avenue in Dallas. Frisco makes three.

While Start Restaurant is mostly about healthy food, the fast-casual drive-thru also sells a cinnamon bun.

The company is co-owned by Erin McKool, a former attorney. "I really feel like there continues to be an unfilled niche for fast food that's healthy," she said before the second Start opened in Dallas. "I really feel that's the wave of the future."

Start serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of the healthier options include a egg white and veggie breakfast sandwich; a redfish wrap; and sides like avocado or steamed broccoli for kids. But Start also sells a breaded chicken sandwich and a delicious-looking cinnamon roll with a "secret ingredient," says the menu: sweet potato.

"Our focus is not on diet food," McKool says in a statement.

The restaurant's commitment is to sell scratch-made food with a better-for-you bent. As in: "Eggs, milk, sugar and more menu items are always organic," according to a press release. "Meats and eggs are from humanely raised animals. Start will never use (animal) products that are raised on hormones, antibiotics or treated with nitrates."

Start is expected to open Aug. 13, 2018.

Start is located at 5533 Old Lebanon Road, Frisco.

Start in Frisco opens Aug. 13, 2018.
