A guide to dining and drinking at the Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth

Luxury shopping is the name of the game at Fort Worth's new Shops at Clearfork.

The development, which relocated department store Neiman Marcus from its longtime home at Ridgmar Mall to southwest Fort Worth, is filled with high-end designers. There's jewelry (Kendra Scott, Tiffany and Co.), clothing (Burberry, Elaine Turner), accessories (Tory Burch, Louis Vuitton), furniture (Z Gallerie, Arhaus) and even cars (Tesla). With sculptures peppered throughout the area, shopping Clearfork almost feels like you're meandering through NorthPark Center in Dallas — only outdoors.

You're going to need fuel to hit all those places. Luckily, the Shops at Clearfork has plenty of restaurants and bars where you can indulge. Here's where to dine and drink while planning a shop-til-you-drop excursion.

Amorino Gelato al Naturale

Eat Drink D-FW

The latest food and drink reviews, recipes and info on the D-FW food scene.

Or with:

One delightful spot that recently opened in Fort Worth is Amorino Gelato, a coffee and sweets shop that serves gelato in an iconic flower shape. It's so beautiful, we'd even consider it a tasty work of art. (We also want to sample its gelato macaron, two French cookies with gelato slathered in the middle.) German Rodriguez, who is half-Colombian, half-Italian, says this is D-FW's first Amorino and the menu also includes crepes, waffles, and hot chocolate.

B&B Butchers and Restaurant

Here's where to take the carnivores. B&B Butchers and Restaurant comes to Fort Worth by way of Houston, where it has been serving choice cuts of steak since 2015. Think steakhouse staples like prime ribeye and wagyu ribeye that are dry-aged for 55 days. The restaurant also sells seafood such as oysters and lobster tail. In the mood for something more casual? Stop by the adjoined butcher shop for a sandwich or sliced-meat available for purchase by the pound.

Variety is the spice of life at City Works, which offers 90 beers on draft alongside a massive menu of American-style grub. Think sandwiches, burgers, flatbread pizzas, barbecue ribs, and an item called The Works -- tater tots that come loaded with cheese, pork, chicken, shrimp, cheese curds, jalapenos, pico de gallo, over-easy eggs and avocado. (You might want to share.) With 18 TVs, City Works is an ideal spot for sports watching. And bring the kids -- the Fort Worth location is decidedly family-friendly.

Clean Juice

"Healthy" is also an option at the Shops at Clearfork. Clean Juice is one in a nationwide chain of juice and smoothie bars that also serves acai bowls, oat bowls and toast. The menu boasts more than 20 drinks, including the Immunity juice, a blend of carrot, lemon, orange, pineapple and turmeric.

Cru Food and Wine Bar

Happy hour? Wine not! Cru Food and Wine Bar is a cozy spot offering drinkers more than 100 bottles to choose from. Get one by the glass or choose one of 14 different flights to compare the nuances in flavor profile just like the pros. (They won't force you to spit, though.) Then select a plate from the "Napa-style" menu of eats that ranges from fig and gorgonzola bruschetta to seared sea scallops to stone-fired pizza.

Joy Macarons

There's a funny sign you can't help but notice when passing by Joy Macarons: "Yes, we have a door," it reads. Look at the pink and brown facade and you might not find the handle right away. But persevere and you'll be rewarded with tasty French macarons from this specialty bakery. Our favorite flavors include chocolate chip and butter pecan. Be sure to snap a photo: The space is begging to be on your Instagram.

Malai Kitchen has built a reputation in North Texas for its food and beer inspired by Southeast Asia. The restaurant's third location is in the Shops at Clearfork development in Fort Worth, and like its predecessors in Dallas and Southlake, the spot is much more than a kitchen; it's also a microbrewery. For an authentic taste of Vietnam, try the bia hoi, a light lager traditionally served all dang day.

NM Cafe

The "NM" stands for -- you guessed it -- Neiman Marcus. The 95,000-square-foot luxury department store anchors the Shops at Clearfork, and if you're a regular, you'll be pleased to know its signature restaurant is here. Diners find the famous popovers and strawberry butter as well as salads, sandwiches, soups and even a few entrees. Its menu of wine and cocktails will also make you want to stay a while.

Rise No. 3

One step into French restaurant Rise No. 3 and diners will feel a million miles away from Cowtown. The spot, the third in North Texas, is all about ambiance, with intimate lighting and an indoor forest of birch trees strung with lights. Sit on the patio for a street-side cafe vibe and order one of the restaurant's signature sweet or savory souffles, filled with items such as herb and spicy sausage, escargot or chocolate. Looking for wine? Choose from more than 90 to pair with your meal.

Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar

It's always martini time at Twigs, where bartenders shake and stir from open to close. This Washington export opened its first Lone Star location in Fort Worth in a 7,000-square-foot storefront at Clearfork that's as modern as it is cozy. Belly up and try the bar's signature house martini, which features buyer's choice of Tito's Vodka or Bombay Dry gin plus dry vermouth and dressed simply with two olives. During happy hour, they're only $8 each. Hungry? Pair that cocktail with a pizza or one of the stick-to-your-ribs entrees, such as pork osso bucco, slow-roasted pork served with chive-sour cream mashed potatoes, vegetables and a mushroom marsala sauce.

The Trailhead at Clearfork

Slightly removed from the shopping center, the Trailhead at Clearfork is a scenic outpost overlooking the Trinity River. As the name suggests, biking and hiking trails converge here, where there's also an eatery called Press Cafe and a cycling shop. Rise No. 3 owner Hedda Dowd likened the area to "Napa without the mountains." On weekdays, the venue hosts outdoor fitness classes, and on weekends, there's a farmer's market. Patrons can stop by any time to enjoy a libation in the outdoor garden dotted with native plants or on Press Cafe's rooftop patio.

More to look forward to

More restaurants are expected to open at the Shops at Clearfork in 2018. Here's a rundown:

  • Doc B's Fresh Kitchen, a Chicago-based chain serving sandwiches, pizzas, burgers and bowls
  • Fixe, a Southern restaurant with down-home cooking
