Update: Recently closed food hall in Fort Worth plans to reopen

Update Nov. 8 at 2:07 p.m.: Americado, the Fort Worth food hall that closed on Nov. 5, announced plans to reopen. According to Facebook, the food hall will open the doors again on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. with a revamped menu.

"We have raised more capital and decided to re-open and hope that we can get more traffic to this area," says the Facebook post. "Our menu will be focused on our best sellers with some exciting American taco additions like our new Fried Chicken Taco and Brisket + Queso Taco. We will also be expanding our bar area."

Americado is located at 2000 W. Berry St., in Fort Worth.

Two bites of disappointing news related to food halls in Fort Worth and Plano came in this week.

On Monday, Americado Mexican food hall in Fort Worth announced via Facebook it is closing. The last day of service will be Sunday, Nov. 5. Owners told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram "that funds have run out" and they were unable to negotiate a lower rent with the building's landlord.

Americado opened in March with several counters that served Mexican street fare, including tasty, if eyebrow-raising shark empanadas.

On a different side of the region, the highly-anticipated Legacy Hall at Plano's Legacy West development announced Tuesday its opening date will be pushed back, meaning it will be canceling its kick-off event, Fall for the Hall Block Party, on Nov. 10 and 11. A spokeswoman for the project did not give a reason. When we visited the development on Aug. 31, several parts of it were still under construction.

Legacy Hall is a three-story facility with multiple bars and restaurants, a brewery and 21 food stalls operated by local businesses and restaurateurs. It also is expected to host live music.

A new opening date was not given.

Food halls have become a popular trend in Dallas-Fort Worth dining in recent years, and it's not difficult to see why. Food halls offer multiple counters where patrons can order varying cuisine, which can satisfy groups with differing tastes that want to order separately and sit together in a communal dining area. In essence, food halls are like mall food courts, but more distinguished: They're often focused on fresh ingredients and locally-based brands over chains. And their buzzy chefs would like to think they're more delicious, too.

We'll update you with details about the Legacy Hall opening as we receive them.
