Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 is a great day for growling stomachs in Dallas. Three reasons: It's opening day of the State Fair of Texas, a.k.a, fried-food lover's paradise; it's National Coffee Day; and it's opening day of Shake Shack at Preston Road and Royal Lane in Dallas.
At each of those, you're bound to wait in line for the food or beverage you crave. And it just might be worth it.
Shake Shack is a New York City burger house that has launched two existing restaurants in D-FW so far: in Uptown Dallas and at Legacy West in Plano. (One at DFW International Airport is coming soon, our Tiney Ricciardi reports.) Those who love Shake Shack's burgers, crinkle-cut fries and custard-concretes tend to come from far and wide for a bite.
D-FW's newest Shake Shack is located at Preston Royal Village, in Dallas' affluent Preston Hollow neighborhood.
A press release notes Shake Shack's "cult-like following around the world," and they're right. You'll find Shacks in Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey and England, among other countries.
A hallmark of some Shake Shack restaurants is its specialty food and drink options for that area, even though though the menu is mostly the same from Shack to Shack. The Preston-Royal Shake Shack will sell the Link Burger, a special-to-Texas beef burger topped with a jalapeno-cheese sausage link made at famed barbecue restaurant Pecan Lodge.
Similarly, a new custard-concrete will be the Royal Treatment (a play on its Preston-Royal home): a cup of vanilla custard mixed with marshmallow sauce and "crispy crunchies."
Shake Shack at Preston-Royal will also sell local beers, including those from Community Beer Co., Four Corners Brewing Co. and more.
Shake Shack opens at 11 a.m. Sept. 29 at 6025 Royal Lane, Dallas.
