Thirsty Lion Gastropub plots suburban Texas expansion into Irving and The Colony

Dallas-Fort Worth gets plenty of restaurant transplants from New York and Austin. Los Angeles, too. Here's a sports bar and gastropub from Portland.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub and Grill is expected to open Oct. 24 in the new Toyota Music Factory complex in Irving.

The Irving outpost of Thirsty Lion will be Texas' first. The restaurateurs hope to open a second in D-FW, near Nebraska Furniture Mart in The Colony, in 2019.

The new Irving restaurant will be huge: nearly 8,000 square feet inside, 1,800 square feet on the patio.

After perusing menus online, Thirsty Lion appears to be an American restaurant that serves appetizers like spinach-artichoke dip and sliders; sandwiches such as a smoked turkey club and a Cuban; entrees like classic mac and cheese and fish and chips; and burgers. The bar includes craft-beer flights -- six tastes for $12 -- plus cocktails, wine, beer and cider. It'll serve local Texas beer, too.

If you're into sports, this restaurant and bar promises you can watch your game. "Each Thirsty Lion location is designed to ensure top-of-the-line acoustics allowing for the simultaneous enjoyment of music and conversation," says a press release.

Thirsty Lion is expected to open at 350 West Las Colinas Bvd., Irving.
