Two Dallas restaurants -- Thai and Mexican spots -- head west, to Fort Worth

If you plot them on a map, local company Apheleia Restaurant Group is spreading its restaurants all over Dallas-Fort Worth. First it opened a cluster of restaurants in the Dallas Design District, then branched out to West Plano and Preston Hollow. Now, the company is opening two restaurants to the west, in Fort Worth.

El Bolero Cocina Mexicana and Pakpao Thai are expected to open on Crockett Street in a section of Fort Worth's Cultural District. (It's the West 7th district, but it has a new name: Crockett Row.) Existing restaurants and entertainment spots in that part of Fort Worth include dine-in-theater Movie Tavern, beer spot Social House and moonshine restaurant Mash'd, among others.

The company behind El Bolero and Pakpao Thai also operate fine-dining restaurant Oakswanky lounge Quill and a burger joint called The Royale.

El Bolero and Pakpao are expected to open in Fort Worth in late fall 2017.

Pakpao got a jolt of star power when Food Network TV chef Jet Tila signed on as the executive chef. Pakpao currently has three restaurants open -- two in Dallas, one in West Plano -- and seems to be the brand Apheleia owners Tiffanee and Richard Ellman are expanding the quickest.

Also of note: There's a Thai tale here, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram points out: A chef named Eddy Thretipthuangsin once worked at the original Pakpao in the Dallas Design District. After he left, he opened (and closed) Thai restaurant Kin Kin in West 7th. Now, Pakpao's moving into the same neighborhood. (But not with Thretipthuangsin.)
