Get the scoop: Betty Ringer Ice Cream now open in Dallas

Just in time for National Ice Cream Day on July 16, Betty Ringer Ice Cream opened in West Dallas's Sylvan Thirty development on Friday, July 14.

The creator behind the shop is no stranger to the dessert world. Stephen Smith, founder of small-batch chocolate studio Nib Chocolates, brings his confection background to the shop.

The shop will scoop French custard-style ice cream that is made from just four ingredients: heavy cream, milk, sugar and egg yolks.

Unique flavors include sweet corn & blackberry jam, vanilla matcha, cinnamon horchata and roasted banana pudding, one of Smith's favorites. Smith also incorporated his Filipino heritage into the anticipated fan-favorite ube (purple yam) flavor.

Betty Ringer's 10 flavors include one vegan option and one sorbet.

While Betty Ringer is sticking to ice cream in either a cup or sugar cone for now, the shop will soon serve sundaes, floats, milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches.

You'll also find a small selection of cookies, chocolates, caramels and other confections. During the colder months, Betty Ringer will serve drinking chocolate.
