Newk's Eatery now open and serving pizza, sandwiches and more in Frisco

It's no secret that healthful dining is having a moment in North Texas, and there's a new restaurant in Frisco that's hoping to tap into the trend.

Newk's Eatery is a fast-casual joint that aims to elevate the experience by focusing on the freshness of its ingredients, says Chris Newcomb, co-founder and chief executive officer. The company opened its third D-FW location near the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility, The Star, in Frisco on June 19; it's the 112th location nationwide. There are also Newk's locations in Plano and Irving.

Newcomb, who co-founded McAlister's Deli in 1989, designed this concept to "crack the millennial crowd." From the soups to the marinades, "nothing comes pre-made," Newcomb says.

Newk's menu features a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, salads and soups. There's also a grab-and-go section of pre-packaged sandwiches and salads. Like the other locations, Newk's Eatery in Frisco has what's known as "the roundtable," a condiment bar where patrons can pick up oil, vinegar, crackers and an assortment of veggies to dress their meal. And if you just want a few things to snack on, that's OK too.

Newk Eatery in Frisco is a 4,500-square-foot space with seating for 174 guests inside and on its patio. Though it's the newest location, it may not be the last: Newcomb says there may be a Newk's Eatery coming to Fort Worth in the future.
