Rockwall, are you ready to roll? The rolled ice cream dessert first dropped into Dallas-Fort Worth in the summer of 2016, with Orchid City Fusion in Arlington and Chills 360 in Dallas's Deep Ellum. Now, it's Rockwall's turn to get a bite out of this trendy, Instagrammable dessert.
Chills 360 is opening its second location in downtown Rockwall with a grand opening celebration starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 30. Expect an appearance by the shop's mascot Mr. Chills, shirt giveaways and scratch cards with the possibility to win free dessert and other discounts.
"Rockwall was an ideal location for us because it is very diversified and has a lot of small cities surrounding it, and I remember meeting Rockwall customers who would drive all the way to the Deep Ellum store," says Director of Business Development Usman Babar.
If you aren't familiar with Thai-styled rolled ice cream, it's a fun one. At Chills 360, customers choose from eight flavor options such as Monkey Business (banana and nutella) and Pinky Promise (strawberry and graham cracker). The shop also incorporates Asian flavors like Ice Ice Baby (taro and lychee) and Matcha Made in Heaven (green tea and strawberry).
Liquid ice cream and mix ins are poured and mixed on a cold metal slab before they are rolled into scrolls. Toppings, including Oreos, M&Ms and coconut flakes, and drizzles, like chocolate and caramel, are then loaded on. Each cup of ice cream is $7.
Chills 360 is on a roll: It already has a third shop in the works in North Texas, expected to open in Fort Worth in August.
