Hilarious war of words rages between two Texas shops

"You want beef, Wendy's? You've got it!" That was one of the punches thrown in a "savage" sign war in Lubbock, as Twitter explains it.

Two companies, Pure Water Ice & Tea Company and Wendy's, have been trading quippy jabs on their outdoor signs in the Texas town, and it's sent Twitter into a tizzy. One guy called it "the highlight of my summer, honestly."

Wendy's hurled this beefy bite in early June: "Anything you can brew we can brew better." They followed it with a shameless plug: "Try our Fruitea Chillers." OK, sure.

Here's a fave, as posted by Twitter user @kasssthelasss, who has been diligently following this important feud:

Or with:

^^ If it's too small:

  • Wendy's: "Wendy's parking only, violators will be served Pure Water."
  • Pure Water: "Good thing our tea is stronger than your sign game!"

According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, "it all started when the store put 'Kliff Kingsbury drinks for free' on their sign board about a month ago. Santos Perez, general manager at Wendy's, said his restaurant responded, offering Kingsbury food and drink for free." (Kingsbury didn't eat for free at either. An-y-way.)

Nobody's said it yet, so we will: Props to both companies for having enough letters to keep this sign game up. There's nothing worse than a marquee that uses an upside-down 7 as an L, am I right?
