Plano's first. Then Frisco, Fort Worth, Frisco, not necessarily in that order. Flippin' Pizza NY Pies and Slices' first foray into North Texas is heavily concentrated on Collin County.

The Brooklyn-based pizza company sells "old school" New York style pies, its website says. Pizzas come by the slice or as a whole 18-incher, in flavors such as cheese, pepperoni, tomato-basil-garlic, chicken-mushroom-pesto and more. Customers can also build their own pizzas. For those kind of restaurantgoers, there's roasted broccolini and salads.

The restaurant filters its water to match the water in Brooklyn, "since it's the water that makes a legit NY pie," CEO Peter Tremblay tells us via email.

According to a press release, Flippin' Pizza wants to open 25 restaurants in Texas alone. They're also looking towards opening 24 stores in the Middle East and more than a dozen in California.

The Flippin' Pizzas opening in Plano, Frisco and Fort Worth were carefully selected because of the demographics in North Texas. And the Plano restaurant marks the first Flippin' not only in our area but in Texas, too.

"We partner with local schools, organizations and businesses through our fundraising and catering programs, so we search for specific communities with a balance of residences and businesses," according to Tremblay. "The North Dallas region has both focus on family with thriving businesses to support the tremendous growth."

Flippin' Pizza's first Texas restaurant, at Park Boulevard and the Dallas North Tollway in Plano at 1855 Dallas Parkway, opens June 8. Here are the addresses of other coming-soon Flippin' Pizzas in D-FW:

  • Legacy Drive and Warren Parkway in Frisco
  • 8161 FM 423 in Frisco
  • 4601 West Freeway at Hulen Street in Fort Worth
