Plano now has a Sprinkles cupcake ATM, a.k.a., a 24/7 sweet-treat vending machine

All the good ideas are taken. Seriously, they're all gone.

You can swipe your credit card at a machine, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and a Sprinkles cupcake will come out the other end. The greatest #firstworldproblem in all of this is deciding which flavor you want.

This new cupcake ATM has taken up residence in Plano, outside of a Sprinkles cupcake shop that opened May 31 in a new development called Legacy West. The cupcake ATM opened at 9 a.m. May 31.

Sprinkles famously got its start in Beverly Hills; its founder Candace Nelson helped cupcakes make the sweet transition from child's play to a celebrity treat. Sprinkles has had a presence in Dallas-Fort Worth for several years and its first out-of-California bakery was in Dallas, at the intersection of Preston Road and Northwest Highway. Soon, a cupcake ATM sprouted at that same intersection and a Sprinkles Ice Cream next door. All three are still popular.

The opening of the Plano Sprinkles marked four in Texas now. Sprinkles also moved its warehouse to Farmers Branch, according to a press release.

"We love Texas and are excited to continue to grow our reach in the Lone Star State," Nelson says in a statement.

Sprinkles is known for its red velvet cupcakes, which are one of about 50 varieties. In the ice cream section, the shop sells cupcake milkshakes and something called a Sprinkles Sandwich: two cupcake tops with ice cream smashed between. Seriously, all the good ideas are gone.

(Ice cream purists, you can also just get a scoop, no cupcake(s). But, I mean, if you're gonna go for it ...)

The shop will also sell cookies.

Legacy West is stocked with companies that are popular among urbanites. There's Shake Shack, the New York City burger joint; a two-story Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse; and many more coming soon. Sprinkles is one of the earlier eateries to open at Legacy West.

Sprinkles is located at 7500 Windrose Ave., Plano, on the northwest corner of Legacy Drive and the Dallas North Tollway. We'd give you the hours, but they don't really matter. Cupcake ATM.
