The word is out on Rise Biscuits Donuts in Allen. Lines are out the door on the weekends.
The brand-new breakfast and lunch spot has been selling biscuits and doughnuts to hungry kids and their parents in the Dallas suburb since early April. Biscuits and doughnuts combined, they sell more than 2,000 a day on the weekends.
Don't let the line scare you off; it moves pretty quickly.
This new Rise Biscuits Donuts is Texas' first. The company started in Durham, North Carolina, in 2012.
Doughnuts range from classic to wacky: from glazed to pineapple-basil-pistachio or a Butterfinger doughnut.
The biscuits and sandwiches on potato rolls are mostly savory: Examples include build-your-own egg sandwiches or a fried green tomato sammy with pimento cheese. You can go straightforward with a fried chicken biscuit or funky with the seared rare tuna sandwich with pickled watermelon radish and cucumber-wasabi mayo.
Franchise owners Dax Ferguson and Brandy Ferguson call them "the best dang biscuits and donuts." (They might be biased, but they do look good.) Tell us at @guidelive what you think.
Rise is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily at 950 W. Stacy Rd. in the Stacy Village Shopping Center, Allen.
