Is there anything better than a bowl of queso?

Behind the photo: Meet the most enthusiastic Bob Armstrong Dip eater in Dallas

One avid queso eater puts it eloquently: "Queso is pretty much prime time for me. It is what I love." That's Shana Hagemeyer, the D-FW woman who won a queso eating contest in Dallas in 2015 and is pictured with that goofy grin in the photo to the right. We mean, really: Is there anything better than a good bowl of queso?

We posed the question to GuideLive and The Dallas Morning News readers, and goodness, you guys care about your queso.

"I have the word queso on my license plate. I'm that serious. This is a research project of my life," says Delia Jo Ramsey. Delia, we want to meet you.

And a +1 to James Mcmurray, who may or may not have been joking when he said, "This is the most important question that the main stream media refuses to ask. Respeck." Thanks, man.

What makes Kristin Chenoweth happy? Singing and eating queso, she says

It's important for us to mention that our own Leslie Brenner isn't a fan of the Tex-Mex standard. Our restaurant critic said in late 2016: "I've never been a fan of the insipid melted processed cheese concoction that passes for an appetizer in Tex-Mex restaurants from here to El Paso and back. Yes, I know many (most?) Texans consider it an essential comfort food. I consider it to be a baby-food version of Mexican food."

Gasp.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion. We're hoping you're of the opinion that queso is delicious.

We asked you to vote on your favorite bowl of queso, and there was a clear winner: Torchy's Tacos.

Thanks to the nearly 5,000 votes that came in over 10 days! The poll closed May 1, 2017. See the results below.

How we chose this list: We asked you on Facebook to name your favorite places to eat queso. We took your suggestions, added our own, and whittled the list down to 20. They are presented above in alphabetical order.
