Free Cone Day might just be Ben & Jerry's merriest day of the year.
For nearly 40 years, Ben & Jerry's has handed out free cones on April 4 as a thanks to customers for "being so uniquely awesome," says a statement from the company. In Dallas-Fort Worth, the Ben & Jerry's shops slinging free scoops are located in Plano and Highland Village:
Free ice cream is available at both shops from noon to 8 p.m. on April 4, and scoopmeisters will attempt to show that "giving back to the community is just as sweet as free ice cream," the company says.
"It's amazing what we can do together over shared values and several scoops of ice cream," says Hunter Rose, "ice cream czar" at Ben & Jerry's of Plano and Highland Village, in a press release. Toss a few bucks in the tip jar if you want to: It goes to Susan G. Komen North Texas foundation.
Rose expects his staff to give away something like 18,000 scoops.
